ColorVu 3.0

WDR

Wide Dynamic Range — balances very bright and very dark areas in the same shot (e.g. a dim doorway against daylight) so neither is lost. 130 dB is high-end.

DORI

An industry distance rating: Detect, Observe, Recognise, Identify. Bigger metres mean useful detail further away.

IP67

A sealing rating: full dust protection and withstands temporary water immersion. Safe for exposed outdoor mounting.

NEMA 4X

An enclosure standard that adds corrosion resistance — suited to coastal, salt-air and wash-down environments.

PoE (802.3at)

Power over Ethernet — one network cable carries data and power, so no separate supply at the camera. “at” is the higher-power PoE+ class.

ONVIF

An open industry standard that lets the camera work with third-party recorders and software, not just Hikvision gear.

ANR

Automatic Network Replenishment — if the network drops, the camera keeps recording to its microSD card and backfills the recorder when the link returns.

H.265+

An efficient video format that roughly halves storage and bandwidth versus older H.264, with no loss of detail.

2.8 mm or 4 mm — which should I choose?

Both are 6 MP. The 2.8 mm gives a wider 108.8° view for open areas; this 4 mm version is narrower (93.3°) with longer reach — better for entrances, driveways and corridors.

Does it need a special switch?

It runs on standard PoE (IEEE 802.3at, Class 4) or 12 VDC. When strobe, white light and IR peak together, size the PoE budget to the datasheet rather than assuming the minimum.

Can it record without an NVR?

Yes — a microSD card up to 512 GB gives edge recording, with ANR to backfill clips after a dropout. For multi-camera sites a Hikvision NVR is still recommended.

Is the two-way audio and strobe legal to use?

They’re powerful deterrents — configure them in line with local privacy, signage and night-noise rules. Talk to us if you need help setting compliant schedules.
