Understanding Power Requirements

This power supply provides 12V DC at 2 Amps, which means it can safely supply up to 2000mA in total. Each camera may use a different amount of power, commonly around 200mA to 500mA, depending on the model, infrared night vision and camera type.

For example, if you connect 4 cameras that each use around 400mA, the total draw is 1600mA / 1.6A, which is within the 2A limit. If too many cameras are connected, or if the cameras require more current than expected, the power supply may become overloaded and cause camera dropouts, flickering, shutdowns or unstable video.

How to Check Your System: DVR or NVR?

This power supply is designed for analogue CCTV systems that use a DVR. It is not normally used for IP camera systems that run through an NVR.
