Buying Guide & Helpful Info (Australia)

Replacing a fan-light glass is one of the quickest ways to tidy a room and improve light quality. The F30/201-RG is the common clipper-style bowl used across many ceiling-fan light kits. It’s designed with a rolled lip that’s gripped by three small screws or springs on the fan’s light fitter. The opal finish softens harsh points of light, spreads illumination evenly and hides the view of the lamp inside, which is ideal for bedrooms, living areas and rentals where a clean, timeless look just works.

Will it fit my fan?

Most clipper bowls are defined by the lip diameter. This model is made for fittings that accept a lip of around Ø154 mm (overall bowl Ø170 mm, height ~80 mm). If your existing glass is similar, you’re in the right zone. Small variances are normal: the three screws can be backed off or tightened to pinch the lip gently. If your current bowl uses a bayonet/cord grip, threaded collar, or a different lip size, this glass won’t be suitable.

How to measure for compatibility

  1. Power off & cool down: switch the fan light off and allow the glass to cool before handling.
  2. Remove old glass: hold the bowl with one hand and loosen the three perimeter screws evenly.
  3. Measure the lip: measure across the outer edge of the rolled rim (that’s the part the screws pinch).
  4. Check the seat: confirm the light fitter has three screws/springs spaced roughly evenly around the opening.
  5. Inspect the gasket: some fitters have a thin rubber ring; keep or replace it to prevent rattles.

Install in a few minutes

  1. Support the new glass with one hand under the bowl.
  2. Back off the three screws just enough to clear the rim.
  3. Lift the bowl so the lip sits inside the fitter opening.
  4. Gently tighten each screw a little at a time, moving in rotation so pressure is even.
  5. Do not overtighten — the screws are only meant to pinch the lip, not bite into the glass.

Globe choices & light quality

Opal glass pairs beautifully with modern LED globes because it diffuses hotspots and reduces glare. For bedrooms and living rooms, choose warm white (2700–3000 K) for a relaxed feel. For kitchens or studies, neutral white (~4000 K) keeps colours accurate. Focus on lumens (brightness) rather than watts: 600–800 lumens suits most three- or four-blade fans with diffusers, while larger spaces may prefer 900–1200 lumens. Dimmable LEDs are fine if your fan light uses a compatible dimmer module or remote.

Care & safety

  • Clean with a soft cloth and mild detergent; avoid abrasives that can dull the opal finish.
  • Check screw tension seasonally; vibration from fans can loosen hardware over time.
  • Handle over a soft surface when installing — it’s real glass.
  • If the fitter’s screws are burred or too sharp, replace them to prevent chipping.

FAQs

  • Brand compatibility? Clipper bowls are widely used across many fan brands. Fit is determined by lip diameter and the three-screw clamp, not brand names.
  • Clips/screws included? No — reuse the screws in your fan’s light fitter. Replace them if they’re worn.
  • Returns if it doesn’t fit? Keep the glass and packaging in as-new condition; contact us to arrange options per our returns policy.
  • Heat & LED use? LEDs run cool and are recommended. Always stay within the fan manufacturer’s lamp ratings.
