TP-Link VIGI IP cameras

Every VIGI camera records a sharp 4MP to 8MP picture, tells people and vehicles apart and runs on one PoE cable.

Choose InSight full-colour models such as the S485 and S385 for colour footage all night, the S485PI and S385PI for a 180° view, or the PTZ5425 and LPR345Z for zoom and number plates.

  • InSight cameras — 4MP to 8MP 4K, full-colour night vision, panoramic, PTZ and number plate models
  • PoE recorders — 4 to 64 channels, 4K output and H.265+ recording
  • Camera kits — 5MP and 8MP kits, most with a drive fitted and cables in the box
  • Solar & 4G — cameras that run with no mains power or internet
  • Networking — Omada PoE switches, wireless bridges and Wi-Fi access points

TP-Link camera questions

Turret, dome or bullet: which should I choose?

Turrets are the easy all-rounder and don't catch spider webs on the lens. Domes are vandal-resistant for low ceilings. Bullets suit long driveways and yards.

How does full-colour night vision work?

A large-aperture lens and soft warm light keep the picture in colour after dark, so clothing and car colours stay clear. Infrared models switch to black and white instead.

Do VIGI cameras need a power point?

No. They are powered over the network cable by a VIGI PoE recorder or a PoE switch, up to 100 m away.

What warranty do TP-Link VIGI products have?

TP-Link VIGI cameras and recorders carry a 3-year warranty, handled in Australia through InFront. Contact us first and we organise any claim.

Is there a monthly fee for the VIGI app?

No. The VIGI app is free on iPhone and Android, with live view, playback and alerts. Footage records to the hard drive in your VIGI recorder, not a paid cloud.

What is the difference between VIGI and Tapo?

Both are made by TP-Link. Tapo is the Wi-Fi camera range for DIY home use. VIGI is the professional range: PoE cameras, network recorders and kits built for installers, businesses and homes that want wired reliability.

CCTV basics

How does a PoE camera system work?

PoE (Power over Ethernet) sends power and video down one network cable. Each VIGI camera plugs into a port on the back of a VIGI PoE recorder, and that one cable does everything.

  1. IP camerasOne Cat6 cable each
  2. PoE recorder (NVR)Powers and records them
  3. Screen & appMonitor on site, phone anywhere

Why it matters

  • No power points — cameras need no plug pack at the camera end, up to 100 m of cable.
  • Plug and play — VIGI cameras are found and added by the recorder automatically.
  • Footage stays on site — recorded to a hard drive in the NVR, no monthly cloud fees.
  • Free app — live view, playback and alerts in the VIGI app on iPhone and Android.

No cable run?

For a shed, gate or second building, a TP-Link wireless bridge carries the network over the air. Where there is no power or internet at all, a VIGI 4G camera on a solar system runs on its own.

Mixing brands

VIGI recorders also record other ONVIF cameras for video and basic motion. Smart detection and alerts work best camera-to-recorder within VIGI.
