Quell personal alarms — a 100dB siren on your keyring

How a Quell personal alarm works
- Carry it Clip it to your keys, bag strap, belt loop or walking frame — somewhere your hand finds without looking.
- Pull the pin A firm tug on the chain pulls the pin out and the 100dB siren starts instantly. No buttons, apps or pairing.
- Get attention The sudden noise startles an attacker and tells people nearby that something is wrong, giving you time to move to safety and call 000.
- Reset Push the pin back in to silence the siren — it’s ready to use again straight away.
Who carries a personal safety alarm?
Seniors living independently
A pull chain is far easier than a tiny button. Keep one by the bed and one on the walker to alert family or neighbours after a fall.
Walkers, joggers & cyclists
Early-morning and after-dark exercise on quiet paths. Clip it to a waistband and the torch lights the way.
Night-shift & lone workers
Nurses, hospitality, retail, cleaners and security staff walking to the car or working alone on site.
Students & teenagers
On the school bag for the walk home, or on the keys at uni, at parties and on public transport.
Travellers & commuters
Unfamiliar streets, train stations and car parks. Small enough for hand luggage and every handbag.
Carers & support workers
Home-visit staff and disability support workers who need a simple way to call for help nearby.
What to look for in a personal alarm
Loudness. Look for 100dB or more — loud enough to be heard over traffic and wind. Quell delivers 100dB from a keyring-sized body.
Activation under stress. In a panic, small buttons get missed. A pull-pin works with one hand, by feel, even in the dark.
Size you will actually carry. The best alarm is the one that is on you. Quell weighs next to nothing and lives on your keys.
Batteries in the box. Every Quell alarm comes fitted with 4 × LR44 (A76) button cells, so it works straight out of the pack.
Personal alarm or monitored alarm?
A Quell personal alarm is a local siren: it alerts the people around you, but it does not phone anyone. That makes it ideal for walking, commuting and around the home with others nearby — with no monthly fees and nothing to set up.
If someone lives alone and needs an alarm that contacts family or a monitoring centre, use a monitored or GPS alarm as well, and keep a Quell on the keys for everyday carry. In an emergency always call 000.
Bulk orders for workplaces, councils & care providers
We supply Quell personal alarms in quantity to aged-care and disability providers, government agencies, councils, schools, universities, security companies and corporate safety programs — ready for staff kits, welfare packs and community events.
Tell us how many you need and where they are going, and we will come back with volume pricing and delivery Australia-wide.

Personal alarm FAQ
How loud is a Quell personal alarm?
The Quell personal alarm has a 100dB siren — around the loudness of a power tool up close. It is designed to startle an attacker and make people nearby look your way.
How do you turn a Quell personal alarm on and off?
Pull the pin out using the keyring chain and the siren sounds straight away. Push the pin back in to stop it. There are no buttons to find, apps to install or devices to pair.
What batteries does it use?
Each alarm uses 4 × LR44 (A76) 1.5V button cells, which come fitted in the alarm. Replacement LR44 cells are widely available.
Is a personal alarm good for elderly people?
Yes. The pull chain is much easier to use than small buttons, there is nothing to charge or set up, and the siren alerts family or neighbours nearby. It does not call anyone, so for someone living alone pair it with a monitored alarm.
Is it legal to carry a personal alarm in Australia?
Yes. A personal alarm is a noise-maker, not a weapon, so you can carry it anywhere in Australia — unlike pepper spray, which is prohibited or restricted in most states.
What colours are available?
Quell alarms come in blue, orange and red. The 3 Pack has one of each colour and the 6 Pack has two of each. Single alarms are sent in the colour we have in stock.
Does it have a torch?
Yes. Every Quell personal alarm has a built-in LED torch — handy for finding keys, lighting a path or checking a car before you get in.
Can I buy personal alarms in bulk?
Yes. The 3 Pack and 6 Pack already lower the price per alarm, and we quote larger quantities for workplaces, councils, schools and care providers. Call 07 5609 4910 or use our contact form.
