The Hikvision DS-2CD2386G2-IU2 is an 8 MP 4K fixed turret with DarkFighter‐style low‐light performance, on‐sensor human/vehicle AcuSense classification, 120 dB True‐WDR, and a built‐in microphone. Per Hikvision’s DS‐2CD2386G2‐I(U) datasheet, it ships in a metal IP67 (IEC 60529‐2013) housing sized Ø138.3 × 126.3 mm — a practical upgrade path when you do not need the F1.0 G2H turret’s very latest body revision.

This is a STANDALONE 4K IP CAMERA — a complete device by itself, but most installs add a PoE NVR or a managed PoE switch.

The DS-2CD2386G2-IU2 is a complete camera. Most sites record to a PoE NVR, PoE+ switch, or a VMS — add accessories only as your mounting surface demands.

The DS-2CD2386G2-IU2 uses a 1/1.8" sensor behind F1.6 fixed 2.8 mm optics (M12) with 111° horizontal FOV. Official datasheet minimum illumination: 0.003 lux colour (F1.6, AGC on), 0 lux with 850 nm Smart IR out to 30 m.

Main stream records 3840 × 2160 up to 25 fps at 50 Hz with H.265+, H.265, H.264+ and H.264 — triple‐stream capable for a clean NVR recording path plus a lighter Hik‐Connect pull.

Hikvision’s deep‐learning AcuSense 2.0 engine classifies people and cars against motion noise and environmental clutter. You get line‐crossing, intrusion, region in/out and a basic smart event set — tune target types so trees and possums are not the headline event.

Face capture and scene‐change are included. Events are consumable in iVMS‐4200, Hik‐Connect, HikCentral, or a third‐party ONVIF‐compatible VMS.

IP67 metal, PoE‐efficient, microSD‐ready.

Egress‐sealed to IP67 (IEC 60529‐2013) and rated for −30°C to +60°C operation, with a 3‐axis turret head for pan, tilt and rotate. The built‐in microphone captures on‐scene audio per the “U” model suffix.

A single‐cable 802.3af Class‐3 PoE run is typically well under 7 W at the camera, per datasheet. Up to a 256 GB surveillance‐rated card gives you edge recording, ANR against brief network blips, and a buffer when the recorder is offline.

Is this the same as the newer DS-2CD2386G2H‐IU?

The “G2H” models are a newer revision. This SKU (DS‐2CD2386G2‐IU2) is the 2.8 mm Gen‐2 8 MP turret with built‐in microphone per Hikvision’s Pro Series DS‐2CD2386G2‐I(U) line. The attached datasheet (IU‐C) is the current optical and electrical reference for 2.8 mm −U.

What microSD capacity does it support?

Hikvision specifies built‐in microSD / SDHC / SDXC up to 256 GB on the official datasheet. Use a surveillance‐rated endurance card for 24/7 write. For edge retention beyond 256 GB, add an NVR or VMS‐managed array.

Will this camera work with a non‐Hikvision NVR?

Yes, in most cases via ONVIF Profile S/G/T and H.264/H.265 streams. For AcuSense‐specific events you get the most seamless integration on a Hikvision AcuSense‐capable NVR or on iVMS‐4200.

How do I power it?

802.3af “Class‐3” PoE (max 6.8 W at the port per datasheet) or 12 VDC. PoE is the default for single‐cable data + power.

Installation & safety notice

Low-voltage product (SELV). The DS-2CD2386G2-IU2 is a 12 VDC / IEEE 802.3af PoE IP camera. There is no mains wiring inside the device. A standard plug-in 12 V DC adapter in an existing GPO is fine to use as-is, or the camera can be powered directly off a PoE switch or PoE NVR port — no electrician is required to power the unit.

When a licensed tradesperson is required. Concealed structured data cabling between the camera, the PoE switch/NVR and any remote rack or ceiling run is customer cabling under AS/CA S009 and must be performed by an ACMA-registered cabler. New GPOs, rack mains or any modification to the premises wiring is the job of a licensed electrician under AS/NZS 3000 Wiring Rules.
