Stairs you can see.
PIR, daylight sensor, no wiring.
The Quell 130730 is a battery stair and hallway LED. PIR covers about 5 m at 100°, a daylight sensor blocks daytime false-ons, and the lamp drops out 15 seconds after the last movement. Sit it on a tread or fix it to the wall — no electrician.

A path light that sleeps in the day.
Halls and stairwells are where people fall at 2 am looking for a switch. 130730 is built for that path: motion in, light on, then off so the cells last. Quell rates standby at up to six months in typical AUTO / night use.

SENSOR · 01
PIR plus a daylight lock-out.
The faceted window is a passive infrared sensor. Quell quotes 5 metres by 100° — enough for a typical residential flight or a short hall if you aim it down the path.
A photocell beside the PIR is why the pack says night-time operation only. Daytime traffic does not keep waking the LED.
POWER · 02
Three AAs. Up to six months standby.
Each unit takes 3 × AA. They are not in the box. In AUTO, Quell quotes standby of up to six months — that assumes night-only wakes, not the lamp left on ON.
The side slider is ON / OFF / AUTO. AUTO is the night-light mode. ON is a continuous lamp when you want a cupboard light without motion.

INSTALL · 03
No cable. Aim it down the path.
Freestanding on a stair tread, hall table or shelf, or wall-mounted. There is no 240 V work on the device. Put the PIR looking along the walk, not into a heater or a pet bed if you can avoid it.
After 15 seconds with no motion the LED goes out. That is the figure on the Quell carton — older web copy that said 20 seconds was wrong.
How it works
From blister to first step.
01
Fit three AAs
Open the battery door. Insert 3 × AA. Close it firmly so the contacts sit.
02
Slide to AUTO
OFF for storage. ON if you want a steady cupboard lamp. AUTO for stairs at night.
03
Place or hang
Shelf, tread or wall. Point the PIR down the walking line.
04
Walk the path
At night the LED should come on, then drop out ~15 seconds after you pass.

Answers
Common questions
Are batteries included?
No. Each light takes 3 × AA. They are not in the box. Alkaline cells are the usual choice for the stated standby.
Does it stay on all night?
Not in AUTO. The PIR turns the LED on when someone walks through the 5 m / 100° field, then it switches off after 15 seconds with no further motion. A daylight sensor keeps it off in the day so you are not burning cells on sunlit stairs.
Wall or shelf?
Both. The pack is marked freestanding or wall mounting and needs no wiring. Use AUTO on the side slider for motion; ON is a constant lamp; OFF is off.
Where does Quell intend it?
The carton lists stairs, hallways, children’s rooms, bathrooms, garages, cupboards and sheds. It is a home-safety path light, not a mains flood or a smoke alarm.
Single, 5-pack or 6-pack?
The hardware is the same 130730. Order a single for one landing, or a 5- or 6-pack when you want the same light on every change of level.
Stocked for Australian homes.

Installation & safety notice
Battery product. The 130730 is 3 × AA only. There is no 240 V connection on the light. Do not attempt to hard-wire it.
Not a fire alarm. This is a path / night light. It does not meet smoke or carbon-monoxide alarm requirements and must not be used in place of a listed detector.
Specs in good faith. Coverage, 15-second time-out and six-month standby are taken from the Quell 130730 carton. Battery life varies with traffic, cell quality and leaving the slider on ON.
