How to Use Your Quell Personal Alarm
- Carry it where you can reach it – clip the keyring to a bag strap, lanyard or belt loop. Don't bury it at the bottom of a backpack.

Q: How loud is 100 decibels really?

Q: How is the Quell alarm activated?
A: There are no buttons or apps. You simply pull the chain at the bottom of the alarm sharply away from the body. The pin releases and the 100dB siren sounds continuously. To stop the alarm, push the pin back in. It's deliberately simple so it works under panic conditions, in the dark, with cold or shaking hands.
Q: Are the batteries included?
A: Yes. Each of the six alarms ships with 4 x A76 (LR44) 1.5V button cell batteries already fitted. You can use the alarms straight out of the pack. Replacement A76/LR44 batteries are inexpensive and available everywhere.
Q: How long do the batteries last?
A: The alarm draws no power while idle, so the batteries last for years in standby. Continuous siren use will deplete them in roughly 30–60 minutes — but in real-world emergency use you typically only need a few seconds of sound to attract attention or scare off a threat. We recommend testing each alarm briefly every few months.
Q: Is the alarm reusable?
A: Yes. The Quell personal alarm is fully reusable. Once the pin is reinserted, the siren stops immediately and the alarm is armed again. You can practice with it without worrying about wasting it.
Q: Can I get a different colour mix?
A: The standard pack ships with 2 x Red, 2 x Blue and 2 x Orange. Quell only manufactures these three colours and we have to send the colours we are supplied. If a particular colour is temporarily out of stock, we may substitute another genuine Quell colour.
