This is the outside call panel. To actually answer the door you’ll need a compatible Hikvision indoor station (or the Hik-Connect app) plus a PoE switch and a run of Cat6.

The DS-KV6113-WPE1 is the villa door station you mount at your gate or front door. It makes the call — but something inside has to receive it. Pair it with a Hikvision indoor station for a proper in-home video phone, or just the Hik-Connect app for a phone-only setup.

FAQ

Good questions, answered.

Do I need an indoor station as well?

Not strictly — the DS-KV6113-WPE1 can call straight to the Hik-Connect app for phone-only answering. For an in-home panel experience, pair it with a Hikvision indoor station like the DS-KH6350-WTE1W.

Is Wi-Fi a reliable way to run the door station?

For retrofits where pulling a Cat6 is impractical, 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi is a legitimate option. For new builds, PoE over Cat6 is the preferred install — one cable does power and data, with rock-steady latency. Wireless range depends on site conditions; coverage cannot be guaranteed.

Can it drive an electric strike or magnetic lock?

Yes. The onboard 30 V DC / 2 A lock relay switches most 12 V strikes and mag-locks via a dedicated lock PSU sized for the load. Some installers prefer wiring the relay at the indoor station for better fail-safe behaviour — your choice.

How many Mifare cards can I enrol?

Up to 10,000 — plenty for multi-family homes, duplex villas and small apartment blocks. Cards are managed via the device web console or the paired Hikvision indoor station.

Will it survive our summers?

Yes. The housing is IP65-rated (full dust protection, low-pressure water jets) and the rated operating range is −40 to +55 °C. A deep porch or eave is still recommended to avoid baking in the direct summer sun — good practice for any outdoor electronics.

Can I integrate it with a Hikvision NVR?

Yes. The door station publishes a standard RTSP H.264 stream, so Hikvision NVRs (and any third-party VMS that speaks RTSP) can record its camera alongside your regular CCTV. Every ring becomes a searchable event.

Is this genuine Hikvision with Australian warranty?

Absolutely. We only stock 100% genuine Hikvision, supplied through authorised Australian distribution and shipped nationwide by Infront Technology. Full Australian manufacturer warranty applies, and local technical support is a call away.

Can I install it myself?

The door station itself is low-voltage — PoE or 12 V DC — and a confident DIYer can usually surface-mount it. Concealed Cat-6 cabling in the wall cavity is customer cabling under AS/CA S009 and should be run by an ACMA-registered cabler. Any 240 V work (new GPO, dedicated lock PSU, gate-motor mains) must be performed by a licensed electrician.

Installation & safety notice

Low-voltage product (SELV). The DS-KV6113-WPE1 is powered by PoE (IEEE 802.3af) or a 12 V DC adapter — there is no 240 V wiring inside the door station and no mains work is required on the unit itself. Surface-mounting is a screwdriver-and-bracket job; a confident DIYer can install the door station and a compatible Hikvision indoor station without calling a trade.

When a licensed tradesperson is required. Concealed Cat-6 cabling between the door station, PoE switch and indoor station is customer cabling under AS/CA S009 and must be installed by an ACMA-registered cabler. Any 240 V work — new GPO, dedicated lock PSU, gate-motor mains feed — is the licensed electrician’s or security installer’s job. A standard plug-in 12 V DC adapter into an existing GPO is fine to use as-is.
