Mount the door station

Surface-mount the door station at the front door or gate with the included weather seal and rainshield. Run Cat5e/Cat6 back to the house — or plan the Wi-Fi link.

Wall-mount the monitor

Hang the 7″ indoor monitor at head height in a convenient spot — entry hall, kitchen, main bedroom. Plug the included 12 V DC PSU into a nearby GPO.

Pair the units

Join both devices to the same Wi-Fi (or LAN) and pair through the on-screen wizard. The door-call test is a tap away.

Enrol Mifare cards

Add the supplied fobs (and any extras) via the indoor monitor’s admin menu. Scan Hik-Connect’s QR code to mirror the door to your phone. Done.

Is this really a complete kit?

Yes. Door station, 7″ indoor monitor, rainshield, two PSUs, five Mifare fobs and an administrator card are all in the box. You’ll just need Cat5e/Cat6 (or Wi-Fi), and optional hardware for keyless door release.

Do I need a PoE switch?

No — the kit includes two 12 V PSUs, so it runs perfectly without PoE. A PoE switch is optional for customers who prefer a single Cat6 cable per device and centralised power. We recommend an 802.3af-compliant switch.

Can I answer the door from my phone?

Absolutely. Register the units with the free Hik-Connect app (iOS or Android) and the door call mirrors to your phone — live view, two-way talk, remote unlock, push notifications. No monthly fee.

Will Wi-Fi be reliable enough?

For retrofits where chasing a Cat6 is impractical, 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi is a legitimate option on the indoor station. For new builds, a cabled PoE or UTP link is still the gold standard — lower latency, no channel congestion. Wireless range depends on site conditions; coverage cannot be guaranteed.

Can it drive an electric strike or mag-lock?

Yes. The door station has an onboard lock-relay output that drives most 12 V electric strikes or mag-locks via a dedicated lock PSU sized for the inrush current. Indoor station also provides lock relay outputs for backup release.

Can I add a second indoor monitor later?

Yes — the system is expandable. Add another DS-KH6320-WTE1 (matching 7″ black) or upgrade to the 10″ DS-KH8520-WTE1 for larger homes and small apartment blocks. See the Pairings section above for common upgrades.

Will it survive our summers?

Yes. The outdoor door station is IP65-rated (full dust protection, low-pressure water jets) with a rated operating range of −40 to +55 °C. A deep porch or eave is still recommended to avoid baking in direct summer sun — good practice for any outdoor electronics.

Is this genuine Hikvision with Australian warranty?

Absolutely. We only stock 100% genuine Hikvision, supplied through authorised Australian distribution, shipped nationwide by Infront Technologies. Full Australian manufacturer warranty applies, and local technical support is a call away.

Can I install it myself?

The kit itself is low-voltage — PoE or 12 V DC — and a confident DIYer can usually surface-mount both units. Concealed Cat-6 cabling in the wall cavity is customer cabling under AS/CA S009 and should be run by an ACMA-registered cabler. Any 240 V work (new GPO, dedicated lock PSU, gate-motor mains) must be performed by a licensed electrician.

Installation & safety notice

Low-voltage product (SELV). The DS-KIS603-P kit is powered by the two included 12 V DC adapters — or optional PoE (IEEE 802.3af). There is no 240 V wiring inside the door station or indoor monitor, and no mains work is required on the units themselves. Surface- and wall-mounting is a screwdriver-and-bracket job; a confident DIYer can install the kit without calling a trade.

When a licensed tradesperson is required. Concealed Cat-6 cabling between the door station, the indoor station and any optional PoE switch is customer cabling under AS/CA S009 and must be installed by an ACMA-registered cabler. Any 240 V work — new GPO, dedicated lock PSU, gate-motor mains feed — is the licensed electrician’s or security installer’s job. Standard plug-in 12 V DC adapters into existing GPOs are fine to use as-is.
