A video door phone for tight spots.
Running on two existing wires.

The AK-R20A-2 is Akuvox’s R20A-2: the slim R20A single-button door phone made for 2-wire. It takes power and data from the pair an old analogue door station used, and is the door phone Akuvox pairs with the C313W-2 in its 2-wire IP intercom kit.

This SKU is the door phone only.

You receive the R20A-2 with its back cover, cables and wall-mounting bracket and fixings. Indoor monitors, an NS-2 switch, power supply and lock hardware are sold separately — or choose the Akuvox 2-wire IP intercom kit.

Video and card entry, no new cable.

Visitors press one button and residents answer on a monitor or the SmartPlus app; residents tap a card or Android phone to enter — all over two wires that were already in the wall.

13.56 MHz and 125 kHz reader for EM, MIFARE and DESFire (EV1/EV2/EV3) cards, with NFC for Android phones.

2-wire

Power and data on one pair.

A single two-pin connection replaces separate power and network cable. Connect it direct to a C313W-2 or S562W-2 monitor, or to an NS-2 port.

With an NS-2 on 48 V, Akuvox rates star runs of up to 300 m on 18–24 AWG cable.

Answers

Common questions

How is the R20A-2 different from the R20A?

Same one-button design, camera and card reader. The R20A-2 takes power and network over a 2-wire pair instead of Ethernet / PoE, so it suits homes with old analogue intercom cabling, and it has one relay and one input where the R20A has two of each.

What can it connect to?

Akuvox 2-wire indoor monitors (C313W-2, S562W-2) directly, or an Akuvox NS-2 switch when several 2-wire devices share the system.

How long can the 2-wire cable be?

With an NS-2 on its 48 V supply, Akuvox rates star runs of up to 300 m on 18–24 AWG cable.

How many cards and users does it store?

Up to 20,000 cards and 4,000 users, on EM (125 kHz), MIFARE and DESFire EV1 / EV2 / EV3 (13.56 MHz) credentials, plus NFC from Android phones.

Can it open a door?

Yes. One relay drives a strike or maglock on its own power supply; fit the supplied diode across DC lock coils.

Can it be flush-mounted?

Yes. The R20A-2 uses the same 180 × 101 × 50 mm recess, flush box and 189 × 120 mm decorative panel as the R20A, so the R20A / R25A in-wall kit fits it.

Does it have a keypad?

No — entry is by card, Android NFC, the monitor or the SmartPlus app. Choose the R20K-2 for PIN entry.

A compact 2-wire door phone.

Choose the R20A-2 for a single-dwelling entrance with card entry; the R20K-2 adds a keypad for PINs, and the E12S-2 is a slimmer doorbell for houses.

Installation & safety notice

Low-voltage product (SELV). Power and network arrive together on the two-pin 2-wire connection, fed from an Akuvox NS-2 switch or a 2-wire indoor monitor and its power adapter. Treat as SELV low-voltage equipment.

When a licensed tradesperson is required. Concealed data and intercom cabling is customer cabling under AS/CA S009 and must be installed by an ACMA-registered cabler. Electric locks, maglocks and lock power supplies may require a licensed electrician or security installer.

The R20A-2 has one relay for a strike or maglock; power the lock from its own supply and fit the supplied 1 A / 200 V diode across DC lock coils.
