An 8-inch door phone that sees every detail.
Three cameras, one flat aluminium panel.
The AK-S538 is Akuvox’s 8-inch Android facial recognition door station. A 5 MP starlight main camera, a liveness camera and a dedicated QR camera sit above the touchscreen, with two microphones, three relays and a dual-frequency card reader in a 297 × 136.4 mm aluminium panel.
This SKU is the S538 door station only.
You receive the S538 main unit with its wiring cover, seals, terminal blocks and fixings. Choose the S538 on-wall or in-wall installation kit — sold separately, as are rain covers, indoor monitors, PoE switch and lock hardware.

Recognised at the door, whatever the light.
Residents walk up and are recognised by face; visitors call from the directory; couriers and guests scan a QR code. Residents who prefer their phone use Bluetooth 5.0 or NFC instead of a card.
Cameras
5 MP starlight, liveness and QR.
The 5 MP main camera on a 1/2.65″ CMOS sensor adds HDR and starlight sensitivity, streaming H.264 at up to 1920 × 1080, 25 fps, across a 120° (H) / 64° (V) view. A separate liveness camera tells real people from photos or videos.
A third camera reads QR codes for visitor passes. Radar plus image motion detection flags activity at the door, with zones and distances set by the property manager. ONVIF and RTSP let your NVR record the entrance.
Screen and audio
A big screen with clear two-way audio.
The 8-inch IPS touchscreen (800 × 1280) shows the resident directory, dial pad and call screen; white and infrared LEDs plus a light sensor support the cameras after dark, down to 0.1 lux.
Two microphones and a speaker handle the call, with echo cancellation, voice activity detection and G.722 wideband audio. A line-out port can feed an external amplifier.
Access
Face, QR, card, PIN or Bluetooth.
Up to 50,000 users, 50,000 face templates, 200,000 cards and 50,000 PINs are held on the station. The reader handles 13.56 MHz and 125 kHz cards including EM, MIFARE, DESFire EV1 / EV2 / EV3 and FeliCa, plus NFC from Android phones.
BLE 5.0 adds Bluetooth entry from a phone. Three relays and three inputs drive the door, a gate and an exit button from one station, and each relay can also be released individually by DTMF during a call.

Fit the kit
Install the S538 on-wall or in-wall kit; the 15° angled screw fixing makes it easier to work close to the wall.

Wire and power
Connect PoE 802.3at or 24 V DC, then the lock relays, exit button and door sensor inputs.

Register and enrol
Register to Akuvox indoor monitors, SmartPlus or your SIP PBX, then enrol faces, cards and PINs.
04
Test the door
Check face and QR entry day and night, make a test call and confirm each relay releases its lock.

Common questions
Is a mounting kit included?
No. Every S538 needs either the S538 on-wall installation kit (surface) or the S538 in-wall installation kit (flush). Matching on-wall and in-wall rain covers are also available.
What power does it need?
IEEE 802.3at (PoE+) or a 24 V DC / 2 A supply. Standard 802.3af PoE is not enough. The station also has a 12 V DC / 0.5 A output for a small lock or reader.
How many residents and credentials does it hold?
Up to 50,000 users, 50,000 face templates, 200,000 cards and 50,000 PINs.
Which cards and phones work with the reader?
13.56 MHz and 125 kHz cards — EM, MIFARE, DESFire EV1 / EV2 / EV3 and FeliCa — plus NFC on Android phones and Bluetooth (BLE 5.0) entry.
Can a photo fool the face reader?
The S538 has a separate liveness camera alongside the 5 MP main camera to tell real faces from photos or videos.
Will it record to my NVR?
Yes. The S538 supports ONVIF and RTSP, so ONVIF-capable NVRs can add the 1080p main camera as a channel.
What temperature range does it cover?
Working temperature is −20 °C to +55 °C, at 10–90% humidity. It is IP66 and IK08 rated; add a rain cover where the screen faces direct weather.
How high should it be mounted?
The Akuvox drawings place the bottom of the panel about 1,007 mm above ground, keeping the usable parts below 1,219 mm for accessible entries.

Installation & safety notice
Low-voltage product (SELV). Power from IEEE 802.3at PoE or a 24 V DC / 2 A supply. A 12 V DC / 0.5 A output is available for a small lock or reader.
When a licensed tradesperson is required. Concealed data and intercom cabling is customer cabling under AS/CA S009 and must be installed by an ACMA-registered cabler. Electric locks, maglocks and lock power supplies may require a licensed electrician or security installer.
