Plan the positions

Mount the cameras about 2.4–3 m high, under eaves where you can. Aim them at doors, gates and paths rather than open sky.

Run the cables

Run one network cable from each camera back to the recorder. PoE works on runs up to 100 m.

Connect the recorder

Plug the cameras into the PoE ports, the screen into HDMI or VGA and the network port into your router, then power on and follow the startup wizard.

Set the app and zones

Scan the recorder’s QR code with the DMSS app, then draw tripwire lines or zones so alerts only fire for people and vehicles.

What is the VSIPP-5DIRG-I2-P best at?

The VSIPP-5DIRG-I2-P is a 5MP turret with a large sensor that stays in colour at night using warm white light instead of infrared. It identifies a face at about 6 m and detects a person out to 58 m.

Is the hard drive included?

Yes. A 2TB surveillance drive is fitted in the recorder. The bay takes a drive of up to 16TB. Bigger drives are in the options.

How many days will it record?

As a rough guide, about 17 to 27 days with all 4 cameras recording around the clock on H.265 on the 2TB drive. Recording on events, or adding a bigger drive, stretches that a long way.

Are the cables included?

No, because every site needs a different length. Each camera needs its own Cat5e or Cat6 run of up to 100 m back to the recorder.

Do the cameras need power points?

No. The recorder powers the cameras through the network cable (PoE), so the only power point needed is at the recorder.

Will the cameras see in colour at night?

Yes. The large sensor and warm white lights keep the picture in colour at night, with no infrared.

Do the cameras record sound?

Yes. Each camera has a built-in microphone, recorded with the video. Recording conversations is covered by state surveillance laws, so check before turning it on.

Can I add more cameras later?

Yes. Four channels are free on the NVR8COM-I, with 4 PoE ports to match. VIP Vision Professional AI cameras plug straight in.

Can I watch it on my phone?

Yes. Connect the recorder to your router and scan its QR code in the free DMSS app for live view, playback and alerts on iPhone and Android.

How far do they see at night?

The warm white lights reach about 30 m in colour.

Can I install it myself?

Many customers do, because each camera needs one cable and the recorder finds it automatically. In Australia, cable run inside walls and ceilings should be installed by a registered cabler.

What is the warranty?

4 years, supported in Australia by Infront Technologies. Contact us first and we will organise any claim.
