Plan the positions

Mount the cameras about 2.4–3 m high, under eaves where you can. Put the 180° cameras on a corner or the middle of a long wall, and aim the others at doors, gates and paths.

Run the cables

Run one network cable from each camera back to the recorder. The kit includes 2 × 20 m and 2 × 30 m Cat5e network cables; PoE works on runs up to 100 m.

Connect the recorder

Plug the cameras into the PoE ports, the screen into HDMI or VGA and the network port into your router, then power on and follow the startup wizard.

Set the app and zones

Scan the recorder’s QR code with the DMSS app, then draw tripwire lines or zones so alerts, lights and sirens only fire for people and vehicles.

What is the difference between the cameras?

The VSIPP-8DG-ID4 is a single-lens 8MP turret with a 106° view, a spotlight, a red and blue strobe and a siren, best for detail at a door, gate or driveway. The VSIPP-8BD-ID3 is a 180° dual-lens bullet with lights, strobe and siren, on an arm that suits fascia boards and tight eaves.

Is the hard drive included?

Yes. A 2TB surveillance drive is fitted in the recorder. There is a second bay, and each bay takes a drive of up to 16TB.

How many days will it record?

As a rough guide, about 11 to 16 days with all 4 cameras recording around the clock on H.265 on the 2TB drive. Recording on events, or adding a bigger drive, stretches that a long way.

Are the cables included?

Yes: 2 × 20 m and 2 × 30 m Cat5e network cables, plus a 1 m cable for your router. For a camera further away, use a longer Cat5e or Cat6 run of up to 100 m.

Do the cameras need power points?

No. The recorder powers the cameras through the network cable (PoE), so the only power point needed is at the recorder.

What sets off the lights and siren?

A person or vehicle crossing a tripwire line or entering a zone you draw. You choose which cameras react and when, so it can stay quiet during the day.

Can I talk through the cameras?

Yes, on the VSIPP-8DG-ID4 and VSIPP-8BD-ID3: a built-in microphone and speaker let you listen and talk from the app.

Can I add more cameras later?

Yes. Four channels are free on the NVR8PRO-I, with 4 PoE ports to match. VIP Vision Professional AI cameras plug straight in.

Can I watch it on my phone?

Yes. Connect the recorder to your router and scan its QR code in the free DMSS app for live view, playback and alerts on iPhone and Android.

How far do they see at night?

Infrared reaches 30 m on the VSIPP-8DG-ID4 and 25 m on the VSIPP-8BD-ID3 in black and white, and the warm white lights give colour closer in.

Can I install it myself?

Many customers do, because each camera needs one cable and the recorder finds it automatically. In Australia, cable run inside walls and ceilings should be installed by a registered cabler.

What is the warranty?

4 years, supported in Australia by Infront Technologies. Contact us first and we will organise any claim.
