Plan the positions

Mount the cameras about 2.4–3 m high, under eaves where you can. Aim them at doors, gates and paths rather than open sky.

Run the cables

Run one network cable from each camera back to the recorder. The kit includes 5 × 20 m and 5 × 30 m Cat5e network cables; PoE works on runs up to 100 m.

Connect the recorder

Plug the cameras into the PoE ports, the screen into HDMI or VGA and the network port into your router, then power on and follow the startup wizard.

Set the app and zones

Scan the recorder’s QR code with the DMSS app, then draw tripwire lines or zones so alerts only fire for people and vehicles.

What is the VSIPP-8BIRMG-I3 best at?

The VSIPP-8BIRMG-I3 is an 8MP bullet with a motorised 2.7–13.5 mm zoom and 60 m infrared, best for long driveways, fence lines and yards. It identifies a face at about 8 m wide, 29 m zoomed and detects a person out to 85 m wide, 280 m zoomed.

Is the hard drive included?

Yes. A 4TB surveillance drive is fitted in the recorder. There are 3 more bays, and each bay takes a drive of up to 16TB.

How many days will it record?

As a rough guide, about 8 to 13 days with all 10 cameras recording around the clock on H.265 on the 4TB drive. Recording on events, or adding a bigger drive, stretches that a long way.

Are the cables included?

Yes: 5 × 20 m and 5 × 30 m Cat5e network cables, plus a 1 m cable for your router. For a camera further away, use a longer Cat5e or Cat6 run of up to 100 m.

Do the cameras need power points?

No. The recorder powers the cameras through the network cable (PoE), so the only power point needed is at the recorder.

Will the cameras see in colour at night?

Yes, using their warm white lights for colour, or infrared for black and white if you prefer the lights off.

Do the cameras record sound?

Yes. Each camera has a built-in microphone, recorded with the video. Recording conversations is covered by state surveillance laws, so check before turning it on.

Can I add more cameras later?

Yes. Six channels are free on the NVR16PRO16P-I3, with 6 PoE ports to match. VIP Vision Professional AI cameras plug straight in.

Can I watch it on my phone?

Yes. Connect the recorder to your router and scan its QR code in the free DMSS app for live view, playback and alerts on iPhone and Android.

How far do they see at night?

Infrared reaches 60 m in black and white, and the warm white lights give colour closer in.

Can I install it myself?

Many customers do, because each camera needs one cable and the recorder finds it automatically. In Australia, cable run inside walls and ceilings should be installed by a registered cabler.

What is the warranty?

4 years, supported in Australia by Infront Technologies. Contact us first and we will organise any claim.
