    How it goes in

    From the box to recording.

    01

    Fit the hard drives

If you did not order drives fitted: with the power off, fit SATA surveillance drives in the bays you are using, then format them or build the RAID array from the setup wizard.

    02

    Connect the cameras

Plug the cameras into PoE switches on the same network as the recorder. It searches the network for Dahua cameras, and other brands are added by ONVIF.

    03

    Connect screens and network

HDMI or VGA to the monitors, a network port to your switch or router, then power on and follow the setup wizard.

    04

    Add it to the app

Turn on P2P and add the recorder to Dahua’s DMSS app for live view, playback and alerts, or to Dahua DSS software on a PC.

    Pair it with

    What goes with it

    Storage

    Seagate SkyHawk drive

Surveillance-rated 2, 4 or 6TB drives built for 24/7 recording. Each bay takes drives of up to 20TB, so the array can grow as the system does.

    Cameras

    Dahua AI cameras

Dahua AcuPick and WizMind cameras unlock AcuPick search, face recognition and ANPR on every channel the recorder supports.

    Network

    PoE switch

This recorder has no PoE ports, so PoE switches power the cameras and link them to it. The Dahua 24-port managed PoE switch suits a large system.

    Viewing

    Video wall or 8K screen

Four HDMI outputs drive a control room: HDMI3 runs up to 8K, or each output shows its own layout.

    Common questions

Can I change a drive while it is recording?

Yes. The drawer-style chassis supports hot swapping, so with RAID 1, 5, 6 or 10 a failed drive can be replaced without switching the recorder off while the array rebuilds.

    What is AcuPick?

Dahua’s search that combines camera and recorder AI. Pick a person or vehicle in the footage and it finds the same target across other cameras and times. It works on up to 64 channels with Dahua AcuPick cameras.

    What is N+M cluster?

Several working recorders share one or more standby recorders. If a working recorder stops, a standby takes over recording for its cameras.

    Does AI change the bandwidth?

Yes. With AI off it takes 1280 Mbps of incoming video; with AI on, 640 Mbps. Face detection by recorder also drops from 8 to 5 channels and perimeter protection from 32 to 24 when the outputs run independent layouts.

    Is a hard drive included?

Not as standard. It is sold without a drive or with a 2TB drive fitted — choose above. Its eight hot-swap SATA bays take drives of up to 20TB each.

Will it work with cameras that are not Dahua?

Yes. Dahua lists ONVIF (Profiles S, T and G) plus Sony, Axis, Arecont, Pelco, Canon and Hanwha cameras, so most IP cameras can be added. The AI by camera features need Dahua AI cameras. Send us the camera model and we will check it.

Can I watch the cameras on my phone?

Yes. P2P is built in: connect a network port to your router and add the recorder to Dahua’s DMSS app on iPhone or Android for live view, playback and alerts. On a PC, use a web browser or Dahua’s DSS software.

What screens can I plug in?

Monitors or a video wall with HDMI or VGA. There are four HDMI and two VGA outputs. When all outputs show the same picture, HDMI3 runs up to 8K, HDMI1 and HDMI2 up to 4K, and HDMI4 and VGA up to 1080p. In independent mode, HDMI1–3 run up to 4K with their own layouts.

    What is Smart H.265+?

Dahua’s smart compression. It cuts the bitrate further than plain H.265 on scenes with little movement, so the drives hold more days of footage. H.265, Smart H.264+, H.264 and MJPEG are supported too.

How far can the cameras be from the recorder?

It has no PoE ports, so the cameras plug into PoE switches and the switches connect to the recorder. Each Cat6 run from a switch can be up to 100 m, and switches can be placed around the site.

Can I mount it in a rack?

Yes. Dahua lists rack or desktop installation for this 2U case, which is 440 mm wide to suit a 19-inch rack. Ask us if you need rack ears or a shelf.

    What is the warranty?

Dahua 3-year manufacturer warranty, handled in Australia through InFront. Contact us first and we will organise any claim.

    Supported by Infront Technologies.

Not sure how many channels or how much storage you need? Call 1300 736 970 or email [email protected] with the number of cameras and how many days you want to keep, and we will size the drives and switches.

    Installation and safety

Power. Runs from 100–240 V AC. Power off before fitting drives unless you are hot-swapping a drive as the quick start guide shows, and earth the case.

Placement. Use indoors between −10 °C and 55 °C, 10–93% humidity, with space around the vents. Dahua notes the maximum drive size depends on the room temperature. Keep it somewhere secure so a thief cannot take the footage with it.
