The AK-KF03 is Akuvox’s KF03 key fob. It carries an NXP MIFARE DESFire EV3 chip, the same encrypted credential as the Akuvox DESFire EV3 card, on a key ring. Each SKU is one fob.

You receive a single KF03 fob. Akuvox door phones, access terminals and the ACR-CID01 desktop reader are sold separately.

The KF01 and KF02 use MIFARE Classic chips. The KF03 steps up to DESFire EV3 with AES keys, a transaction timer against relay attacks and EAL5+ certified silicon, for sites that need cloning resistance.

DESFire EV3 supports DES, 2K3DES, 3K3DES and AES, with SUN message authentication and a transaction timer that helps stop man-in-the-middle attacks.
8 KB of memory, a 7-byte static UID and over 25 years data retention.

Common questions
How do the KF01, KF02 and KF03 differ?
Same fob shell, different chip. The grey KF01 has a Fudan chip that is MIFARE Classic compatible; the orange KF02 has a genuine NXP MIFARE Classic S50 chip; the blue KF03 has an NXP MIFARE DESFire EV3 chip with AES encryption, 8 KB memory and EAL5+ certification, the hardest of the three to copy.
Is this one fob or a pack?
One fob. Order the quantity you need.
Which Akuvox devices read it?
S539, S538, S535, S532, X916, X915 V2, X912, X910, R29, R28 V2, R20 V5, E12 V2, E16 V2, E16 V3, E18, A01, A02, A03, A05 V2, A08 and A15, each from a minimum firmware version. The R25 does not read DESFire.
How do I enrol it?
On the device’s user page click Obtain and hold the fob on the reader, or capture it at a desk with the Akuvox ACR-CID01 USB reader.
Do I need to program it?
Yes for encrypted reading. Create the application and file with the Akuvox ACRM tool and an ACR-CID01, then enter the same App ID, File ID and key on each device.
Is it the same as the Akuvox DESFire EV3 card?
Same chip and encryption; the KF03 is a fob for a key ring, the card is an ISO card. Both can be used on the same system.
Does it need a battery?
No. It is passive and powered by the reader’s field.
Fobs that resist cloning.
KF03 fobs suit sites moving off MIFARE Classic: set your DESFire keys once with ACRM, then enrol each fob on the device.
