The AK-CARD-EV3 is Akuvox’s MIFARE DESFire EV3 card. Instead of reading only a card number, Akuvox devices authenticate an AES-encrypted file on the card. Each SKU is one card.

Which Akuvox devices read it?
Akuvox lists DESFire EV3 encrypted cards on A01, A02, A03, A05 V2, A08, ACR-CID01, E12 V2, E16 V2, E18, R20 V5, R28 V2, R29, S532, S535, S539, X910, X912, X915 V2 and X916 with current firmware.
Do I need to program it?
Yes for encrypted reading. Create the application and keys with the Akuvox ACRM tool and ACR-CID01, then enter the same keys on the device.
Is it more secure than an S50 card?
Yes. DESFire EV3 uses AES-based authentication, which is much harder to clone than MIFARE Classic 1K.
