Akuvox · R20K-L · Black LTE door station kit

A keypad door phone that skips the cable run.
4G LTE straight to the door.

The AK-R20K-BK-L-KIT bundles Akuvox’s R20K-L in black with the Akuvox LTE module (AK-LTEMOD). It is the R20K keypad station with a SIM slot and cellular radio path, built to upgrade older buildings where pulling new data cable to the entry would cost more than the intercom.

This kit is the door station plus the LTE module.

You receive the black R20K-L door phone and the Akuvox LTE module to fit inside it. The data SIM, indoor monitors, rain hood and lock hardware are separate.

In the box
  • Akuvox R20K-L door phone (black)
  • Akuvox LTE module (AK-LTEMOD)
  • Wiring cover, sealing plate, rubber plugs, diode, RJ45 and pin cables
  • Wall-mounting bracket, template, screws, plastic anchors and Allen wrench
What you also need(sold separately)
  • Data SIM from an LTE carrier
  • PoE 802.3af injector or 12 V DC supply
  • Akuvox SmartPlus app, indoor monitor or SIP endpoint
  • Electric lock / maglock and lock PSU if the door is released

Upgrade the entry, not the building.

Swap a tired audio intercom for a video keypad station with only power at the door. Calls route over the mobile network to the SmartPlus app, so residents answer and unlock wherever they are.

LTE

A SIM slot instead of a data cable.

The R20K-L connects over LTE-FDD bands B1/B2/B3/B4/B5/B7/B8/B12/B13/B18/B19/B20/B25/B26/B28 and LTE-TDD B38–B41 — covering the 1, 3, 5, 7 and 28 bands used by Australian networks.

With the included LTE module and a data SIM fitted, set the APN from the Akuvox AK-Partner app over Bluetooth — no laptop at the door.

Anywhere

Answer the door from your phone.

Connected to Akuvox SmartPlus, residents take intercom calls, see the visitor and release the door from the app — at home or away.

2 MP 1/2.8″ camera, 110° (H) / 58° (V), 1080p at 30 fps, with IR LEDs and a light sensor for night calls.

Access

PIN, card, NFC or app.

The 13.56 MHz reader takes MIFARE and DESFire EV1 / EV2 / EV3 credentials, plus NFC from Android phones. Up to 25,000 cards and 5,000 PINs. It does not read 125 kHz EM cards.

Two relays, two inputs, Wiegand in/out and RS485 connect locks, exit buttons, door sensors and access controllers. IP65, −30 °C to +60 °C.

How it works

From SIM card to first call.

01

Mount and power

Surface-mount or flush-mount with the R20K in-wall kit, then power from PoE or 12 V DC.

02

Fit module and SIM

Seat the included LTE module and insert a data SIM.

03

Set the APN

Use AK-Partner’s Bluetooth LTE setup to choose or add your carrier’s APN, then reboot.

04

Enrol and test

Add residents to SmartPlus, load cards and PINs, and confirm each relay releases the right lock.

Pair it with

Builds a complete cellular door entry

App

Akuvox SmartPlus

Cloud intercom service that rings residents’ phones over the LTE link and lets them unlock remotely.

Indoor

Akuvox indoor monitor

Where the building has a network, add a compatible Akuvox SIP indoor station.

Flush

R20K in-wall kit (black)

Recesses the station into the wall in a matching black finish.

Credentials

MIFARE cards and fobs

Akuvox 13.56 MHz MIFARE cards and fobs work with the R20K-L reader once enrolled.

Works with

Platforms and integrations

Akuvox SmartPlus over LTE

Door calls reach residents’ phones through the SmartPlus cloud over the cellular link, and they can unlock from the app.

SIP PBX and indoor monitors

Where a network is available, standard SIP v1 / v2 lets it call Akuvox indoor monitors, IP phones or PBX extensions.

Third-party NVRs

On a wired network the door camera can be recorded by compatible third-party NVRs.

Wiegand and RS485 access control

The selectable Wiegand port and RS485 connect third-party access controllers, readers and Akuvox relay modules.

Answers

Common questions

How is the R20K-L different from the R20K?

The R20K-L adds a SIM slot and LTE support, and can also run from 12 V DC as well as PoE. Its reader is 13.56 MHz only, so it does not read the 125 kHz EM cards the R20K accepts.

What does the kit add over the R20K-L on its own?

The Akuvox LTE module that fits inside the door phone. The R20K-L alone needs that module fitted before it can use a SIM.

Which SIM do I need?

A data SIM from an LTE carrier. The R20K-L covers bands 1, 3, 5, 7 and 28, which Australian networks use. Set the APN through the Akuvox AK-Partner app over Bluetooth.

How is the LTE module and antenna fitted?

Remove the back cover, seat the module and screw it down, then connect it to the main board with the RF cable. The external antenna mounts on its stand on an open, unobstructed wall and connects through the wiring cover.

Do I still need power at the door?

Yes. LTE replaces the data cable, not the power. Use 802.3af PoE or a 12 V DC supply.

How many cards and PINs does it hold?

Up to 25,000 cards, 5,000 PINs and 5,000 users, using 13.56 MHz MIFARE or DESFire EV1 / EV2 / EV3 credentials.

How is the black version different from the silver one?

Only the panel finish. Electronics, LTE bands and features are the same.

Is an indoor monitor included?

No. Use the Akuvox SmartPlus app, a compatible Akuvox indoor monitor or a SIP endpoint.

Video entry without new cabling.

Choose the R20K-L where running data cable to the door is impractical; choose the standard R20K where Ethernet is already there. The black finish has the same electronics as the silver R20K-L.

Installation & safety notice

Low-voltage product (SELV). Power from IEEE 802.3af PoE or a 12 V DC supply, both listed. Treat as SELV low-voltage equipment.

When a licensed tradesperson is required. Concealed data and intercom cabling is customer cabling under AS/CA S009 and must be installed by an ACMA-registered cabler. Electric locks, maglocks and lock power supplies may require a licensed electrician or security installer.
