Your face is your key.
A 7-inch Android door phone with dual cameras.

The AK-R29C is the facial recognition model of Akuvox’s R29 series. A 7-inch Android touchscreen, a 2 MP main camera and a 1 MP auxiliary camera for liveness detection, a dual-frequency card reader and three relays sit in a 324 × 130 mm silver aluminium panel.

This SKU is the R29C door station only.

You receive the R29C main unit with its wiring accessories. Choose the R29 on-wall or in-wall installation kit, and a rain hood for exposed entrances — sold separately, as are indoor monitors, PoE switch and lock hardware.

No cards or codes needed.

Residents are recognised at the door and walk in. Visitors search the touch directory, couriers and service staff get their own navigation options, and guests can be sent a QR code.

Recognition

Dual cameras stop spoofing.

The 2 MP main camera and 1 MP auxiliary camera work together for face liveness detection, so a printed or on-screen photo is not accepted as a resident.

Up to 20,000 face templates are stored on the station. Video streams in H.264 at 1080p / 25 fps across 105° (H) / 55° (V), with IR LEDs for night calls and white LEDs to light QR codes.

Interface

A touch directory that guides visitors.

The 7-inch capacitive touchscreen (800 × 1280) runs a searchable directory with an audio guide and navigation options for visitors, delivery people and service providers.

Screens and information can be customised for your building. Android also lets integrators add third-party apps.

Install the R29 on-wall or in-wall kit, plus rain hood at exposed entrances.

Wire and power

Connect PoE 802.3at or 12 V DC, then the lock relays, exit buttons and door sensor inputs.

Register and enrol

Register to Akuvox indoor monitors, SmartPlus or your SIP PBX, then enrol faces, cards and PINs.

Test the door

Check face entry day and night, make a test call and confirm each relay releases its lock.

SIP v1 / v2 lets the R29C call Akuvox indoor monitors, IP phones or extensions on your own PBX.

NVRs over ONVIF / RTSP

Add the entrance camera to an ONVIF or RTSP-capable NVR and record it with the rest of your CCTV.

Akuvox SmartPlus

Residents answer calls and unlock from the SmartPlus app, which can also show extra third-party IP cameras alongside the R29.

Alarm systems via SmartPlus

The R29 is on Akuvox’s list for third-party emergency alarm integration through SmartPlus, including one-click opening of public gates.

Wiegand and RS485 access control

The selectable Wiegand port and RS485 connect third-party access controllers, readers and Akuvox relay modules.

Common questions

Is a mounting kit included?

No. Use the R29 on-wall or in-wall installation kit, sold separately. Matching on-wall and in-wall rain hoods are also available.

What power does it need?

IEEE 802.3at (PoE+) or a 12 V DC supply on the DC connector. Standard 802.3af PoE is not enough.

How many residents and credentials does it hold?

Up to 20,000 users, 20,000 face templates, 100,000 cards and 20,000 PINs.

Can photos fool the face reader?

The R29C pairs its 2 MP main camera with a 1 MP auxiliary camera for liveness detection, so photos and screens are rejected.

Which cards and phones work?

13.56 MHz and 125 kHz cards — EM, MIFARE, DESFire EV1 / EV2 / EV3 and FeliCa — plus NFC on Android phones, Bluetooth (BLE 5.0) and QR codes.

Will it record to my NVR?

Yes. The R29C supports ONVIF and RTSP, so ONVIF-capable NVRs can add it as a camera channel.

What temperature range does it cover?

Working temperature is −20 °C to +55 °C at 10–90% humidity, with IP65 and IK06 ratings. Add an R29 rain hood where the screen faces the weather.

What mounting height does Akuvox show?

The R29 drawings place the bottom of the panel at 1,212 mm, keeping the camera centre no higher than 1,500 mm.

Low-voltage product (SELV). Power from IEEE 802.3at PoE or a 12 V DC supply.

When a licensed tradesperson is required. Concealed data and intercom cabling is customer cabling under AS/CA S009 and must be installed by an ACMA-registered cabler. Electric locks, maglocks and lock power supplies may require a licensed electrician or security installer.
