128 cameras, sixteen drives,
and an 8K video wall output.
This is the Uniview NVR516-128E-R. Uniview’s 3U enterprise recorder: 128 channels at up to 32MP, 640 Mbps of incoming video, sixteen hot-swap drive bays with RAID up to 60, and an HDMI output that runs at 8K.
In one sentence: the NVR516-128E-R is a 128-channel Uniview NVR with up to 32MP recording, 640 Mbps incoming bandwidth, sixteen hot-swap SATA bays up to 16TB each with RAID 0/1/5/6/10/50/60 and N+1 hot spare, two Gigabit ports, HDMI up to 8K and an optional redundant power supply.
Order it without a drive, or with a 2, 4, 6 or 8TB drive fitted.
The NVR516-128E-R comes without cameras or a screen, and without a hard drive unless you choose one above. Add PoE switches for the cameras and your screens. A second, redundant power supply module is available as an option.
- NVR516-128E-R recorder
- Mains power cord
- A hard drive, if you did not choose one fitted (up to 15 more are optional)
- Up to 128 IP cameras
- PoE switches for the cameras
- Monitors or a video wall
- A 19-inch rack
Swap a drive without stopping recording.
The sixteen bays are hot-swap from the front, so a failed drive comes out while the recorder keeps running. RAID 5, 6, 50 or 60 protects the array, and N+1 hot spare covers the recorder itself.

Front panel
Sixteen front-loading bays.
All sixteen drive trays load from the front of the 3U case. The back carries two Gigabit LAN, HDMI (8K and 4K) and two VGA, two USB 3.0, RS485, RS232, alarm terminals (16 in, 10 out), a 12 V output and the power supply.

Size
482 × 533 × 131 mm.
A 3U, 19-inch case weighing 6.5 kg or less without drives, drawing 50 W or less before drives. Uniview’s SL-A slide rails are available.
How it goes in
From the box to recording.
01
Fit the hard drives
If you did not order one fitted: with the power off, fit surveillance drives in the bays you are using, then format them or build the RAID array from the setup wizard.
02
Connect the cameras
Plug the cameras into PoE switches on the same network as the recorder. It searches the network and adds Uniview cameras automatically.
03
Connect screens and network
HDMI or VGA to the monitors, a network port to your switch or router, then power on and follow the wizard.
04
Add it to the app
Scan the P2P QR code in the UNV-Link app, or add the recorder to Uniview’s EZStation software on a PC.

Storage
Seagate SkyHawk drive
Surveillance-rated 2, 4 or 6TB drives built for 24/7 recording. Uniview rates each bay for drives of up to 16TB.
Cameras
Uniview IP cameras
Uniview turrets, bullets and domes add the smart events and fast searches this recorder is built around.
Network
PoE switch
This recorder has no PoE ports, so a PoE switch powers the cameras and links them to it.
Power
Redundant power supply
Add Uniview’s PWR-DC12-350A-IN module so the recorder keeps running if one supply fails.

Common questions
Is the power supply redundant?
It ships with one supply. Redundant power is an option: fit Uniview’s PWR-DC12-350A-IN module and the recorder keeps running if one supply fails. Ask us to quote it with the recorder.
What does the 8K output do?
HDMI1 runs up to 8K (7680 × 4320) at 30 Hz, so one output can drive a large video wall or 8K screen with many cameras at once. HDMI2 runs up to 4K at 60 Hz for a second, independent layout.
Can I add decoding cards?
Uniview lists the FB-HD04-B-NB and FB-HD07-B-NB decoding cards for this series to add more display outputs. Ask us about availability.
Is a hard drive included?
Not as standard. The NVR516-128E-R is sold without a drive, or with a 2, 4, 6 or 8TB surveillance drive fitted — choose the option above. It has sixteen hot-swap SATA bays of up to 16TB each. A fitted drive fills one bay; add more at any time for space or RAID.
Will it work with cameras that are not Uniview?
Uniview’s datasheet describes its smart features with Uniview cameras. For cameras from another brand, send us the model and we will confirm compatibility before you order.
Can I watch the cameras on my phone?
Yes. P2P is built in: connect the network port to your router and add the recorder to Uniview’s UNV-Link app by scanning its QR code. Live view, playback and alerts then work on iPhone and Android, and up to 128 remote users can connect.
What screen can I plug in?
Monitors or a video wall with HDMI or VGA. HDMI1 runs up to 8K (7680 × 4320) at 30 Hz and HDMI2 up to 4K at 60 Hz; each pairs with a VGA output, and the two pairs show independent layouts.
What is Ultra 265?
Uniview’s compression. It records the same picture as H.265 in less space, so the drive holds more days of footage. H.265 and H.264 are supported too.
What does ANR do?
If the network drops, compatible Uniview cameras keep recording to their SD card and the NVR pulls the missing footage back when the link returns.
How far can the cameras be from the recorder?
It has no PoE ports, so the cameras plug into a PoE switch and the switch connects to the recorder. Each Cat6 run from the switch can be up to 100 m, and switches can be placed around the site.
Can I mount it in a rack?
Yes. It is a 3U, 19-inch case; Uniview SL-A slide rails are available for deep racks.
What is the warranty?
Uniview 3-year manufacturer warranty, handled in Australia through InFront. Contact us first and we will organise any claim.
Supported by Infront Technologies.

Installation and safety
Power. Runs from 100–240 V AC. Earth the case, and hot-swap drives only from the front trays as the quick guide shows.
Placement. Use indoors between −10 °C and 55 °C, under 90% humidity, with space around the vents. Keep it somewhere secure so a thief cannot take the footage with it.
