The AK-R20INH-BLACK is Akuvox’s in-wall rain cover for the 145 × 85 mm R20A and R25A. It fits onto the flush-mounting bracket of the R20A / R25A in-wall kit, so the hood, frame and station lock into the wall box as one.

A clearer picture in bad weather.

Water on the lens and sun straight down on the camera are the two most common causes of a poor door picture. A hood fixes both and protects the button and reader from the worst of the weather.

Protection

Rain and glare stay off the lens.

The hood wraps the top and both sides of the station, so rain runs off the canopy instead of across the camera window and the card-reader area.

It also blocks overhead sun, which helps the camera on north- and west-facing doors.

Fitting

Uses the station’s own fixings.

Fits onto the flush-mounting bracket of the R20A / R25A in-wall kit; the station and hood then slide into the flush box together and lock with two M4×15 Torx screws.

Clamped between the flush-mounting bracket and the in-wall box — no extra screws into the wall.

Common questions

Which door phones does it fit?

Akuvox R20A, R25A and R20A-2, which share the 145 × 85 mm housing and the same in-wall kit. It is too short for the R20K, R25K and R20B — they have their own hoods.

Do I need the in-wall kit?

Yes. The hood fits onto the decorative panel from the R20A / R25A in-wall installation kit, and the whole assembly locks into its flush box with two M4×15 Torx screws.

How big is it?

192 mm high, 123 mm wide and 29 mm deep, so it sits just beyond the 189 × 120 mm decorative panel of the in-wall kit.

Does it change the mounting height?

Slightly. With the hood fitted Akuvox places the bottom of the decorative panel at 1355 mm (1375 mm without it), keeping the camera centre at 1500 mm above the ground.

What is different about the silver version?

Only the finish. Shape and fit are identical (AK-R20INH).

On-wall or in-wall — which do I need?

Use the on-wall hood (AK-R20ONH-BLACK) when the station is surface-mounted on its wall bracket, and this in-wall hood when it is recessed with the in-wall kit.

Pick black to match a black R20A or R25A; the silver version is AK-R20INH. For a surface-mounted station use the on-wall hood (AK-R20ONH-BLACK) instead.
