Akuvox R20A / R25A on-wall rain hood in black is a folded metal canopy that wraps the top and sides of an R20A or R25A door phone, keeping driving rain, dripping water and overhead sun off the camera, card reader and call button. Made for surface-mounted stations.

The AK-R20ONH-BLACK is Akuvox’s on-wall rain cover for the 145 × 85 mm R20A and R25A. It is screwed to the wall together with the station’s own wall-mounting bracket, so it needs no extra box.

A clearer picture in bad weather.

Water on the lens and sun straight down on the camera are the two most common causes of a poor door picture. A hood fixes both and protects the button and reader from the worst of the weather.

Protection

Rain and glare stay off the lens.

The hood wraps the top and both sides of the station, so rain runs off the canopy instead of across the camera window and the card-reader area.

It also blocks overhead sun, which helps the camera on north- and west-facing doors.

Fitting

Uses the station’s own fixings.

Mounts with the door phone’s own wall-mounting bracket: the hood and bracket screw to the wall together, then the station hooks on and locks with its two M3×6 hex screws.

Four ST4×20 screws straight into the wall, or two ST4×20 plus two M4×30 screws into an 86 mm wall box.

Common questions

Which door phones does it fit?

Akuvox R20A, R25A and R20A-2, which share the 145 × 85 mm housing and the same 84 × 142 mm wall-mounting bracket. It is too short for the R20K, R25K and R20B — they have their own hoods.

How is it fixed?

The hood goes behind the door phone’s wall-mounting bracket and both are screwed to the wall — four ST4×20 screws, or two ST4×20 plus two M4×30 if there is an 86 mm wall box. The station then hooks on and locks with its two M3×6 hex screws.

How big is it?

154 mm high, 88 mm wide and 50 mm deep at the top, sloping back to the wall at the bottom.

Do I need extra screws?

No. The ST4×20 and M4×30 screws, wall anchors and M3×6 hex screws used to fit the hood all come in the door phone’s own wall-mounting set.

What is different about the silver version?

Only the finish. Shape and fit are identical (AK-R20ONH).

On-wall or in-wall — which do I need?

Use this on-wall hood when the station is surface-mounted on its wall bracket, and the in-wall hood (AK-R20INH-BLACK) when it is recessed with the in-wall kit.

The right hood for the right install.

Pick black to match a black R20A or R25A; the silver version is AK-R20ONH. For a flush-mounted station use the in-wall hood (AK-R20INH-BLACK) instead.
