Akuvox · VC50T · 5MP turret IP camera

A compact dome for eaves and entries.
5 MP, colour after dark.

The AK-VC50T-IPC is Akuvox’s VC50T, a 5 MP turret camera. It mounts flat to an eave, soffit or wall, covers yards, lobbies and building entrances alongside your Akuvox door phones, and streams over ONVIF and RTSP to an NVR.

This SKU is the turret camera only.

You receive the VC50T with its mounting hardware. The PoE switch or 12 V DC adapter, network cable, microSD card and any NVR are sold separately.

In the box
  • Akuvox VC50T turret camera
  • Drilling template
  • Cable gland
  • 3 × plastic wall anchors and 3 × PA4 × 25 self-tapping screws
  • Hex wrench
What you also need (sold separately)
  • IEEE 802.3af PoE switch or injector, or a 12 V DC 1 A adapter
  • Cat network cable
  • microSD card (up to 512 GB) for on-camera recording
  • ONVIF NVR, Akuvox indoor monitor or SmartPlus app for viewing

Turret or bullet — same camera inside.

The VC50T and VC50B share every imaging and detection spec. Pick the turret when you want a neat dome close to the ceiling line rather than a camera on a projecting arm.

Camera

5 MP on a wide 2.8 mm lens.

A 1/2.8″ Sony STARVIS back-illuminated CMOS sensor records up to 2592 × 1944 at 25 fps in H.265 or H.264, with a main and a sub stream.

The fixed 2.8 mm F1.6 lens covers 96° horizontally, 72° vertically and 124° diagonally. 120 dB WDR evens out bright doorways and shaded corners.

Dual light

Colour or infrared, your choice.

Two LEDs sit under the lens: infrared that reaches up to 40 m for black-and-white night video, and a warm white light that reaches up to 30 m for full-colour images after dark.

The sensor sees down to 0.003 lux at F1.6, and an IR-cut filter switches cleanly between day and night modes.

Smart detection

Alerts for people and vehicles.

Intrusion and line-crossing rules can be set to trigger on people or vehicles, so someone stepping over the boundary of a yard or pool area raises an event rather than every moving branch.

Motion detection, video-tampering and scene-change alarms add a warning if the camera is covered or knocked off aim. The housing is metal and IP67 for exposed eaves.

How it works

From cable to live view.

01

Mount

Stick the drilling template on the eave or wall, drill the three marked holes, fit the anchors and fix the base with the three PA4 × 25 screws.

02

Power and network

Connect an 802.3af PoE port, or a 12 V DC 1 A adapter plus a network cable. Fit the cable gland to seal the RJ45 joint.

03

Aim

Loosen the locking screw, rotate the camera to the view you want, then tighten it with the hex wrench.

04

Check and record

Find the camera with the Akuvox IP Scanner, check live video in its web page, then add it to your NVR over ONVIF or RTSP.

Answers

Common questions

What is the difference between the VC50T and the VC50B?

Only the housing. Both have the 5 MP Sony STARVIS sensor, 2.8 mm lens, IR and white-light LEDs, human and vehicle detection, PoE and IP67. The VC50T is a turret dome (Ø125 × 90.2 mm, 508 g); the VC50B is a bullet on a wall arm (70 × 67.5 × 169 mm, 423 g).

Will it record to my existing NVR?

Yes. It supports ONVIF and RTSP, so most ONVIF-capable NVRs and video management software can add it as a camera channel.

Can residents see it on their Akuvox indoor monitor or phone?

Yes. Akuvox designs the VC50 cameras to work with its door phones, indoor monitors and the SmartPlus app, so live video can be viewed alongside the intercom.

How is it powered?

From an IEEE 802.3af PoE port, or from a 12 V DC supply (Akuvox suggests a 1 A adapter). It draws up to 700 mA at 12 V.

Does it record without an NVR?

Yes, to a microSD card of up to 512 GB in the camera’s card slot. The card is sold separately.

How far does it see at night?

Infrared reaches up to 40 m for black-and-white video, and the white light reaches up to 30 m for colour video.

Is it suitable for outdoor use?

Yes. The metal housing is IP67 and the camera works from −20 °C to +60 °C at up to 95% humidity.

What is in the box?

The camera, a drilling template, a cable gland, three plastic wall anchors, three PA4 × 25 self-tapping screws and a hex wrench.

Turret or bullet?

Choose the VC50T turret for a compact dome under eaves, in lobbies and on ceilings. Choose the VC50B bullet, with the same sensor, lens and detection, for a visible camera on a wall arm aimed along a fence line or driveway.

Installation & safety notice

Low-voltage product (SELV). Power from IEEE 802.3af PoE or a 12 V DC (±10%) supply; the camera draws up to 700 mA at 12 V. Treat as SELV low-voltage equipment.

When a licensed tradesperson is required. Concealed data and intercom cabling is customer cabling under AS/CA S009 and must be installed by an ACMA-registered cabler. Electric locks, maglocks and lock power supplies may require a licensed electrician or security installer.
